If you might think this is a Halloween image, my friend, think again. It's... it's Birthday Time.

In recognition of last night's "schooling" of Mitt by President Obama.
Some spots from a couple of textbooks. I've never seen them in print– a lot of work you do for the educational market gets printed without the illustrator receiving copies. Oh well, this illustrator did get to see a check one in a while.
Here are some stages of a book; from my first sketch (on the text and requisite art requirements,) to finished art, to printed book. I was thrilled to have a  work published  with an inside front cover for  students to write their name, year and condition of book!
Here are some pages from the easy read book I illustrated a number of years ago. It was a lot of fun to do. The inside art was done with a Pantone color. I was  more comfortable working in CMYK.
PS– The machinery was fun to do. (Not very accurate– as if you didn't know.)

It's "Backwards Day." My last post featured some final pages before the addition of watercolor. Today– some roughs...
Watercolor to come...
A penciled and inked page. Watercolor to come...eventually. Text rewritten 20 times– still not set in stone. (Will it ever be?)
I'm not going to post anything more this summer but think these 2 panels from my new book are appropriate for this election cycle.
Keep cool and pray for rain.

(The spelling errors ar intentional.)
Now to start on inking page 28. Can't forget the word balloons...and a long way from water color.
PS- It'll  make sense when it's all done.
