Originally from rural and rustic Lancaster, Pennsylvania Scotty graduated with a BFA is Communication Design from Kutztown University in 2001. After working for 4 years he attended Tyler School of Art's MFA program in Graphic & Interactive Design, graduating in 2007. Scotty is always pursuing projects that utilize his mid-century design and illustration sensibilities. Upon graduation from Tyler Scotty spent the next 3 years working for Paul Kepple at the award-winning studio Headcase Design. Under Paul's direction Scotty worked on projects for such high profile clients as the rapper Eminem, Bravo TV, books for the Broadway shows Spring Awakening and Wicked. He also illustrated for clients the likes of GQ, Time Magazine, The Boston Globe, The New Yorker, The New York Times and Wired.
Scotty's work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Print Magazine and American Illustration. Recently he's been honored to have work shown in German publisher Gestalten’s Naive: Modernism and Folklore in Contemporary Graphic Design as well as their publication entitled Illusive: Contemporary Illustration Part III. Most recently Scotty's Heroes of Folk Series has been has been selected by the 2011 Communication Arts jury to appear in it's Illustration Annual 52.
Besides client projects Scotty currently teaches illustration and design at the University of Pennsylvania. When not working you can either find him spending time with the family, walking the dog or playing Sly and the Family Stone bass lines out in the garage.
